SOLO TRAVEL GUIDANCE FOR WOMEN

The Solo-ish Retreat
A 5-Day Travel Experience for Women
Jan 28th-Feb 1st, 2026 | Oaxaca, Mexico
TRAVEL SOLO NOT ALONE...
For the woman who's always making space for others - it's time for an adventure that's just for you.
Part Group Retreat, Part Solo Adventure
Imagine hopping on a plane solo, bound for one of Mexico's most beautiful cities. ✨

And, for the first time in a long time there's no one to please but yourself. Just you, and a mini-adventure that's all your own.

This isn’t your typical Mexican resort vacation. (No watered down piña coladas, or line dances at the pool.)
This is an experience designed for women who are ready to try something a little braver. Women who are craving an adventure, and are willing to put themselves first for a bit, even if it feels wildly unfamiliar.
Sound like you?

WHEN? JAN 28-FEB 1, 2026
WHERE? OAXACA, MEXICO
Here's What To Expect:
A BLEND OF SOLO ADVENTURES + A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY

Build Your Perfect Day: Before the trip, you'll receive journal prompts to help you build your "perfect solo day." Then, I'll help you bring it to life in Oaxaca.
Group Experiences: We'll go on a local market food tour and take a day trip to Hierve del Agua, visit a local mezcal distillery and a textile factory - exploring all that Oaxaca has to offer.
Mini Solo Quests: Each day, you’ll get a prompt - a gentle dare to step outside of the usual routine. Get a little lost in the city without checking your phone. Order a new dish from a street vendor. Journal about what comes up. Then, we’ll come back together and talk about it.
Group Dinners: We’ll gather in some of my favorite cozy spots in Oaxaca for honest conversations that go beyond small talk. You’ll leave with a full heart, a few new favorite Mexican dishes, and the kind of confidence that sticks with you long after Oaxaca.

MEET YOUR GUIDE
I'm Leah, and I've been traveling the world full-time since 2018...
You read that right - 7 years! I travel with a single carry-on bag, and have now lived in 50+ countries around the world.
But, I wasn't always a world traveler. I was once a woman who worked a 9-5 job I hated, and cared way too much about what (I thought) people expected of me.

But, in 2017, my dad passed away from ALS (far too young,) and it shifted something in me. Life was too short to live a life I didn't love.

So, I got a divorce, left my job, sold my house in Austin, along with nearly everything I owned, and booked a one-way ticket to London by myself. I didn’t know what I’d find, but I knew I needed to do something that was just for me - no one else.

I loved solo travel SO much, that I kept going - from the medinas of Morocco to the ashrams of India, I've seen and experienced places that I used to just dream about.

And, in the process, reminded myself of just how strong, capable and brave I really am.
Solo travel changed my world. It healed me, challenged me, and helped me see the very best version of myself - one adventure at a time.

Now, I want to share that gift with you.
Leah
What exactly does "solo-ish" mean?
Good question.
This isn’t a "go off the grid by yourself" experience, and it's not a jam-packed tour either.
This is a small group retreat with 10 women max.

You’ll have your own time to wander, but you’ll also have a built-in crew to have dinners, reflect with, and grow alongside.

It's solo-ish by design.

Space to be you. But, with your own personal cheering section, there to remind you that you're braver than you know.

Arrive in Oaxaca

There are direct flights from DFW, IAH and LAX, so it's well-connected. I'll guide you on exactly how to get from the airport to your hotel.

You'll check-in, and have time to wander before meeting the group for dinner at one of my favorite local spots for authentic Oaxacan food.

Day 1
the itinerary
A BLEND OF SOLO ADVENTURES + A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY

Day 2
Foodie Exploration Day

We'll start the morning off with a tour of a local food market. You'll have time to explore on your own during the day, be given a mini-solo quest and then meet up with the crew for dinner.
The Ultimate Day Trip

This will be our big day to explore the area around Oaxaca City. We'll do a tour to Hierve el Agua, visit a Mezcal Distillery, see the Tule Tree and stop by a nearby village to see how their artisanal rugs are made.

We'll end the day back in Oaxaca for some solo time.

Day 3

Day 4
Your Perfect Solo Day

Before the trip, I'll take you through some guided journal prompts to design your perfect day. What exactly would you do if you had a day that was just for you? On Day 4, I'll help you bring that perfect day to life.

We'll reconvene to chat about our day over a mole and mezcal dinner.
Farewell Breakfast

We'll wrap up the experience with a group Farewell Breakfast. We'll reflect on the week and talk about ways to keep the solo-ish adventures going.

If you need to hop on a flight back, we'll send you off here (and share rides to the airport.)

If you'd like to extend your stay, we'll have a low-key day of strolling through the city together.

Day 5

Where you'll stay...
In the gorgeous historic center of Oaxaca.
Part of the solo-ish experience is having space that's just for you. We'll all stay in the same neighborhood, but in different spaces.

I'll send you a curated list of Airbnbs and hotels I love to choose from, so you can pick the one that fits your style and budget.
Prices range from $60-$175/night.

For women who crave both connection and independence, this is the best of both worlds: community when you want it, space when you need it.

Our Destination:
Why Oaxaca?
It's pronounced wuh-HAH-kuh, by the way, if you're curious. 😉
Oaxaca had been on my bucket list for years. I'd only ever been to 'resort Mexico' and wanted to see a more authentic side of this beautiful country. Oaxaca is that. It's safe, it's stunning, it's vibrant, and probably unlike anywhere you've been in Mexico.
And, I'm here to show you all my favorite parts. If you love colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, endless sunshine and incredible Mexican food, you're going to love Oaxaca.
This experience is for you if...
You haven't traveled solo abroad much (or ever.) But the idea makes you super excited, and a little bit nervous.
You're independent, but community-minded. You love connecting with like-minded women, but you also value your own downtime and space.
You want to try new things and see new places, but you also want an experienced traveler to help you sort through the logistics of it all. (That's me. 😊)
You want a retreat that’s more than meditation. You want an adventure - to step outside of your usual routine.
You have people-pleasing tendencies. I find that solo travel is especially impactful for women who tend to make choices based off of what everyone else wants. This is your chance to get clear on exactly what it is that YOU want.
Bonus Points: If you're the eldest daughter. 😄 (Because, if you're anything like me - you're a perfectionist who needs a gentle reminder to let go sometimes.)

Limited Spots Available

Who this retreat is not for:
THIS MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU IF...
You prefer familiar environments and need constant company
If the idea of sitting alone at a cafe is your worst nightmare, or you'd be terrified to stay at a hotel by yourself, this probably isn't for you. We'll have plenty of time as a group, but the goal is to step outside of your comfort zone at times by being solo-ish in an unfamiliar place.
You're looking for a 'party' vacation
We'll certainly enjoy all that Oaxaca has to offer (including the occasional Mezcal cocktail if you choose.) But, if you're looking for bachelorette party/spring break vibes, this is not it.
If you have serious limitations with city walking
This definitely isn't a fitness retreat, but we will be doing a lot of walking up and down uneven cobblestone streets and our day trip will involve some light hiking. If that doesn't sound feasible, this particular retreat isn't for you. (But, I promise, we'll have more accessible options in the future!)

Post-Retreat
What happens after the retreat?
The retreat itself is 5 days/4 nights, but feel free to add a day or two on the back end - just for you.

Stay in Oaxaca, or set off on a mini-adventure of your own. I'm familiar with the area, so if you need tips for where to go next, just ask.

After the retreat, we'll all stay connected via a group chat, share photos, and have a Zoom call one month after the retreat to catch-up.

Want to know
the scariest part of taking a solo trip?
Giving yourself the permission to do it.
I've traveled solo across 30+ countries, and the hardest part of it all was allowing myself to go in the first place. (Honestly!)

This is your invitation to choose yourself - just once. You don’t need to justify wanting more space, more adventure, or just a little more "you time."
